Mike Allen, Licensed Real Estate Salesperson
Raised a military brat in Texas and New England, Mike first thought he’d be a scientist of some sort, and so got himself an engineering degree at Boston University. Realizing that wasn’t quite it, he joined the Peace Corps and served 2 years in Cape Verde, West Africa as a community development volunteer. Next was San Francisco, where he was studio manager for a large corporate branding and design firm called Landor. There he honed his eye for good branding and his ability to work in the business of creativity.
After 4 years he then took an acting class to hone his presentation skills, and loved it so much he moved to NYC to enroll at Stella Adler Acting School.
After 3 ½ years of acting, Mike knew that this too was not the life for him. That's when he discovered real estate. Freedom of movement, self-direction, and you interact with all types of people and help them make one of the biggest decisions of their life. And it was sales, which he hadn’t yet done.
Mike went on to be a top producer at a major Manhattan firm doing high-end rentals on the West side of Manhattan. Wanting to do sales in his own neighborhood, Mike found a good fit at apartmentsandlofts.com, where he could explore being both a buyer’s agent and a seller’s agent. Mike more often than not ends up finding homes for working artists and other “creative professionals.” Mike considers himself extremely fortunate to be representing some of the most interesting properties and developers in Brooklyn, and is focused on unique properties with a strong sense of integrity. Mike has since expanded into commercial leasing. He loves reading proposals and enjoys the unique dynamic of putting a successful partnership together between entrepreneur and landlord.Mike’s a huge fan of locals Williamsburg Gallery Association, Chez Bushwick, Triskelion Arts and the Center for Performance Research.
